WHY
DARWIN
Darwin does to buildings what IKEA did to furniture.
Explore the future of construction with our flat-packed, customisable modular building technology! We offer clean and cost effective assembly at your site along with unmatched customisation and quality assurance guarantee.
TO ‘DEVELOP’
IS TO BUILD
WITHOUT DESTROYING
Concept Darwin – Live light, live smart!
Most land ‘development’ involves interfering and often destroying the existing ecology. The quantity of material used is disproportionate and sadly, all of it ends up in a landfill at the end of its life cycle.
Not any more. At Darwin Live Light, we make customizable, lightweight, modular and eco- integrated habitats. We use materials like steel, lightweight glass reinforced concrete slabs (GRC) and structurally insulated wall panels (SIPs) to make resource-efficient and low-maintenance structures. In addition, they are easier to transport (as they are flat packed), quick, clean and hassle free to assemble and they don't need a plinth! This makes Darwin Live Light a smarter, lighter and more sustainable building solution (even compared to other prefabricated buildings)!
‘PERMANENTLY IMPERMANENT’ BUILDINGS ARE THE FUTURE!
As temporary inhabitants of this planet, it is our responsibility to nurture it. All we need to do is to ‘cohabit’ with nature and not ‘inhabit’ it. The building industry has become one of the most wasteful and inefficient. It continues to use conventional on-site building methods that are messy, resource-depleting, and expensive. Pre- engineered modular buildings made in a factory and assembled on-site offer a cleaner, more sustainable and cost-effective alternative to traditional methods. They are a viable solution to the environmental challenges faced by the building industry.
Why this sudden interest in Prefab construction?
“As project timelines shrink, skilled workers become harder to find and costs increase across the construction sector, prefabricated options are becoming even more appealing to architects, engineers, and contractors. Prefabricated buildings allow project leaders to reduce waste, improve cost predictability and speed up the production processes compared to traditional construction methods – in some cases, up to 80% faster than conventional approaches.” Thomas Index Report 2020.

MANUFACTURE- DELIVER-INSTALL
Hassle free execution
A greenfield project of a holiday resort, commercial space or a public space can be overwhelming, fraught with complex logistical issues, delays and budgetary as well as environmental challenges. Specially if it is in a remote natural habitat. On the other hand, with Darwin, maximum work is done offsite in a controlled environment. We manufacture it, we deliver it and we install it!
HOW IS DARWIN DIFFERENT?
OUR PROCESS IS SIMPLE
-
Is Darwin a temporary or a permanent space?Darwin has all features of a permanent structures but provides the option for being dismantled.
-
Is Darwin a container home? No. unlike a container home, Darwin is a building kit of parts that has to be assembled on site.
-
What is a pile foundation? Is your location remote? Are you wanting to save a neighboring tree? Pile foundations are the fastest and most environment friendly option that make building a foundation easy (screw piles do not work in bedrock applications). Pile foundations are less invasive and each pile acts as a footing where even a manually operated auger bit can drill into the ground.
-
Is Darwin customisable?Yes. There is versatility in layout and finishes in Bucky and Nomad models. Whereas in Dwello model your architect can design any layout and finish within a given framework.
-
If it's considered permanent does that mean I can't move it?Yes, you can move it. Though the cost of dismantling and shifting would have to be considered.
-
Where can I install Darwin?Darwin Bucky requires a flat ground where as Nomad and Dwello can even be on undulating landscape. Bucky is an anchored building without any foundation whereas Dwello and Nomad are on pile foundations.

-
Is Darwin weather and sound insulated?Yes. Darwin can have customised insulation for both weather and sound.
-
How long does it take to get a Darwin to fabricate and erect?Depending on the number of units and location it would require 4 to 6 months to fabricate and erect the Darwin models.
